(Johnny, walking through the park, bumps into his footy teammate (Alex) who has sprained his wrist while training on Sunday).
(Alex shown in pain).
Alex: Hey Johnny, Ah Man, this hurts like hell. I know I should not have been training but I was really bored.
Johnny: You will be fine, Here I will fix it now for you.
(Most people did not like the look of Johnny as he was new to the suburb and different to the others).
(Johnny went to help Alex with his hand but was questioned by his enemies who said that Alex should not be helped in any way as he was training on the day of Sabbath which is wrong as it was part of an agreement that no football training will take place, so the rest of the public can use the park)
Johnny: Come on people, was this rule made to help everyone? Or to rub salt in their wounds when they are in need. We made this rule to help everyone, not to hurt them.
(Johnny has become angry but feels some sorrow for the people who truly do not understand him)
(The enemies stayed silent).
(Johnny turns to Alex and pulls out some Voltaren and rubs it on the sprain. He pull his cold water bottle out of his backpack and places it on Alex's hand. This heals Alex's hand and makes the pain go away).
(The enemies leave the park in a sour mood as they were outsmarted by Johnny once again. They went and made plans to slam his football team in their next meeting).
The Relevance Of This Passage And What The Themes Are
There are a number of Themes in this passage which stand out. One being the theme of leadership. Jesus showed this when he stood up for what he believed in and for the paralysed man. He was dealing with the high authorities but that didn't stop him taking action and arguing with the Pharisees. Another theme is the theme of Jesus being our Saviour, as he healed the paralysed man who represented all the Gentiles who were treated badly by the Pharisees. We can see a theme of Jesus The Healer as well.
This passage is relevant to believers because it shows the goodness and wisdom of Jesus. Jesus outsmarted the Pharisees yet again which makes them furious. They are always on Jesus' back, tryin to make him sound like a complete fool, but Jesus crafts his way out of trouble and turns the tables on to the Pharisees. This passage builds up the image in everybody's head of Jesus The Healer. Jesus performs yet another one of his amazing miracles and shows everybody that he is The true Son of Man and Son of God.
